Intensive Art for Teens (Ages 14-18)
This series is perfect for artsy teens who are looking for the opportunity to work with local artists and learn different art-making techniques. Each class runs for 4 weeks. All students are welcome.
The Art of Making Art and Letting Go
Instructor: Darlene Kulig
Time: Mondays from 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Dates: April 3 – 24, 2023 (4 weeks)
Studio: Kramolc Studio
Fee: $85
Description: Led by artist and FCAG instructor Darlene Kulig, this class will help teens reconnect with their inner child and discover their "essence" as artists. Teens will learn about composition, the artist's toolbox, how to work with acrylic paints, and most importantly how to "let go" of outcomes in a carefree art-making environment. Each week, class will begin with an art critique, followed by a mini lesson where Darlene will teach students about the art-making process. From there, students will have time to work on a painting of their choice. Teens who take part in this series will learn how to be present in the moment. They will also discover that making art can be both liberating and life-changing.
About the Instructor: Darlene is a semi-abstracted spirited landscape artist that focuses on landmarks and landscapes around the world. Kulig was awarded the CSEA/Berol Prismacolour National Art Scholarship, granted to six Canadian students entering Fine Arts based on outstanding potential in visual arts. Graduating as an Associate of the Ontario College of Art and Design, she quickly established herself in the commercial world of art and within 4 years was running her own successful design studio.
