Winter (January 2025) Oil and Acrylic class with Robert has been canceled. If we are able to find a replacement instructor we will resume the class.


Each class will review a particular fundamental such as composition, value, or colour. Students will have an opportunity to paint still life arrangements to develop their skills or work on their own projects. Each class includes a 10-to-20-minute presentation and activity followed by a supported painting session.

Time: Tuesdays from 10 am to 12:30 pm

Location: Franklin Carmichael Art Centre (34 Riverdale Dr, Etobicoke)

Studio: June Thomson Studio (main floor)


Fees: $160 (members) / $200 (non-members)

Drop-ins Welcome: $35 for members, $50 non-members

Materials to Bring to Class:
  • Canvas (11”x14” recommended)
  • Brushes
  • Palette (StayWet palette recommended for Acrylic Paints)
  • Acrylic/oil paints (Colours suggested: ultramarine blue, cerulean blue, permanent rose/cadmium red, alizarin crimson, yellow ochre, lemon/cadmium yellow, burnt umber and titanium white)
  • For acrylics: thinning medium
  • For oils: oil medium (e.g. linseed or walnut oil) and odourless mineral spirits for cleaning
  • Pencil
  • Paper towels
  • Table cover (a large garbage bag works fine)
