It’s the season for giving
We are so proud of the incredible history and legacy of the Franklin Carmichael Art Group (FCAG). As you may know, Dr. Ann Curtin was one of the first women to graduate from the Faculty of Medicine, at the University of Toronto and an accomplished artist. In 1932 she moved to Thistletown and built the log-clad home she hoped would become a center for the arts. Thirty years later, her friendship with the wife of famous Group of Seven artist, Franklin Carmichael, led to the naming of that art group. The mandate was to provide quality art courses maintaining a high standard of teaching.
For over 70 years a highly dedicated group of teachers and volunteers together with a part time staff person, continue to provide adult and teen art classes, children’s art camps and art shows for the community.
We’re not just another art school! If this remarkable legacy is to continue, we need your support. Every teacher and student who enters a room in this heritage building, walks in the footsteps of famous artists who came before them. This is what makes us unique and what drives us to continue.
Let's build on this wonderful legacy!
