Summer Art Camp Leader (1 position available)
Work Description : Plan and develop a variety of ART and PLAY activities and implement them with the help of Camp Counselors, French Camp Leader and volunteers.
Work on site.
Dates : July 2, 2024-August 23, 2024 (8 weeks)
Rate : 25$/hr

Responsibilities:
- supervise the development and delivery of a children’s Art camp program
- present the results of a current vulnerable sector screening and first aid certification, as required
- comply with the FCAG Code of Conduct
- liaison with and inform parents on all aspects of program
- train, supervise and direct camp counselors regarding all aspects of the program
- monitor registration, orientation and attendance
- submit paperwork/hours to administration regarding Camp staff
- supervise development of activities program to be delivered by Camp Counselors
- purchase supplies for program
- open and/or close art center
- present an assessment of Summer program to FCAG Board
- advise the Board of any correspondence with funders (Federal Government)
- advise and monitor student staff of safe Covid workplace measures
- advise Executive committee of any absences in advance by phone, email or text
Qualifications:
- Our ideal Camp Leader candidate is a creative person with abilities to lead young people and inspire children (5-12 years) to create art and enjoy self-expression.
- Able to lead staff in the development of a variety of Art and play activities
- Has previous camp or recreation experience working with children
- Must be reliable and have good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Must be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial legislation and regulations
- Must complete or be certified in Standard First Aid by start date
- Must have a current Vulnerable Sector Screening / Criminal Reference Check
- Post secondary education in arts and/or education preferred
- Bilingual candidate preferred (English/French) but not mandatory.

- Animer les activités en français pour les enfants qui ont choisi le mode “BILINGUAL”.
- Participer à la conception d’un horaire et des groupes.
- Assister le Summer Art Camp Leader pour toute communication “en français” avec les enfants, parents et communauté
- Superviser les enfants en tout temps en assurant un environnement sécuritaire et inclusif.
- Organiser le matériel nécessaire pour les activités.
- Participer au nettoyage des espaces studio et la cour extérieure.
- S’occuper spécifiquement des enfants francophones qui ne parlent pas beaucoup l’anglais.
- Informer le Camp Leader de toute situation de risque et problèmes sérieux de comportement.
- Suivre, en tout temps, le code de conduite du centre: FCAG Code of Conduct
Qualifications:
- Notre candidat idéal ou candidate idéale serait une personne créative qui aime travailler avec les enfants et leur permettre d’épanouir leur côté artistique.
- Parfaitement bilingue Français\Anglais.
- Se compromet à s’adresser toujours en français aux enfants qui ont choisi le mode “BILINGUAL”
- Capable de travailler en équipe et de s’adapter aux circonstances.
- A des aptitudes en arts visuels et connaît différentes techniques: dessin, peinture, collage, etc.
- Doit être autonome, ponctuel et avoir des bonnes habiletés de communication et résolution de problèmes.
- A de l’expérience à travailler dans un camp d’été ou avec des enfants.
- Doit être un citoyen canadien, un résident permanent ou une personne à qui la protection du statut de réfugié a été conférée en vertu de la Loi sur l'immigration et la protection des réfugiés.
- Légalement autorisé à travailler au Canada conformément aux lois et réglementations provinciales pertinentes.
- Doit terminer ou être certifié en secourisme standard en date de début du camp.
- Doit avoir une vérification des antécédents criminels à jour avant la date du début du camp,
- Études postsecondaires en arts et/ou en éducation serait un atout.
SUMMER CAMP COUNSELORS (2 positions available)
Camp Counselors report to the Camp Leader and are responsible for assisting in all day to day activities in the studio and outdoors.

Responsibilities:
- Assist Camp Leader develop and implement Art and Play activities for children 5 to 12 years old
- Supervise children during outdoor time, leading group games, ensuring students are playing / working safely and upholding house rules
- Monitor / supervise children during their lunch and snack breaks
- Assist with set up for programming and clean up of grounds and studio
- Work one on one with children to help them learn techniques and provide emotional and physical support while completing projects
- Report any serious occurrences, concerns, and behavioral issues to the Camp Leader and assist with caring for children as instructed
- Monitor supply inventory and maintain a safe and clean working environment
- Interact positively with children, parents/guardians and staff
- Perform tasks and responsibilities as per the FCAG Code of Conduct.
Qualifications:
- Is a young adult between 18 to 30 years of age
- Is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
- Is legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial legislation and regulations
- Must complete or be certified in Standard First Aid by start date
- Must have a current Vulnerable Sector Screening / Criminal Reference Check (if over 18 yrs of age)
- Is a hard worker who is reliable, takes direction well, learns quickly, and has a positive attitude with strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Has experience with art making and/or an interest in the arts
- Has experience working with children ages 5 to 12
- Is able to work independently and in a team environment
- Knowledge of the French language preferred but not mandatory
