Autumn Watercolor Workshop With Nancy Buckingham

Whether you are a dabbler or a seasoned pro, this workshop combines a friendly atmosphere with focused professional instruction. Students will learn about basic perspective, composition, tools and materials with positive encouragement and frequent personal demonstrations to help you along your art journey.

MATERIALS LIST:
Colour- Artist Quality
- Paint colors can be whatever you have in your palette, or you can use Nancy's preferred colors which include:
- French ultramarine, cobalt blue, cerulean blue, aureolin yellow, raw sienna (Winsor & Newton), burnt sienna, hookers green, sap green, alizerin red, permanent rose
Brushes - a few different sizes eg. Rounds #6, #8, #12, 3/8" angle brush, 1 1/2" flat synthetic wash brush
Palette - any type that provides lots of room for mixing with large wells for future favorites. It is recommended it has a lid.
Miscellaneous
- Plastic backboard and masking tape
- Pencil and kneaded eraser
- Paper towels
- Water container (an empty yogurt tub works well)
- Spray bottle (optional)
Autumn Embroidery (Beginner-Friendly / All Levels)
Facilitator: Vishwa Patel
Sunday, October 26 from 10am to 3 pm
Learn foundational embroidery stitches while creating an autumn-inspired motif (e.g., leaves, acorns, pumpkins).
You will completes a mini embroidered tapestry and leave with the skills and confidence to continue at home.
Learning Outcomes - Execute essential stitches (running, backstitch, split stitch, satin stitch, French knot) - Prepare hoop and fabric; thread management and tension - Transfer a simple motif and plan color - Finish and back a hoop for display.
Materials Provided (per participant unless noted):
- 6" wooden embroidery hoop (1)
- Precut cotton/linen fabric squares (\~10"×10") (2 per person)
- Embroidery floss set (autumn palette + neutrals)
- Embroidery needles (sizes 3–7), needle threader
- Small thread snips/scissors (shared)
- Water-soluble fabric pen & tracing paper or carbon transfer paper (shared)
- Printed motif templates (various autumn designs)
- Handout: stitch glossary, finishing guide, resources Safety/Accessibility
Notes:
* Needles handled seated; magnetic picker for dropped needles
* Large-print templates and thicker needles available; all work can be done seated
