About Us

Mission

​Franklin Carmichael Art Group is a charitable organization founded by the late
Dr. Ann Curtin whose mission is to provide visual art opportunities in North
Etobicoke.

Mandate

  • Membership opportunities
  • Space to provide an inspiring and encouraging environment for creativity
  • Art education for children, youth and adults (classes, workshops and camps)
  • Exhibition opportunities for local artists (juried, curated and sales)
  • Art-focused community events

​Facilities

Franklin Carmichael Art Group is a resident group of Franklin Carmichael Art Centre. The Centre is a two-storey log house built on 2.5 acres of land above the Humber River, known as Curtin Park. The Centre is listed in the City of Toronto Heritage Registrar.

Located on the main floor are the June Thomson studio, kitchenette, supply room, office and all gender washrooms. Up a set of stairs, located on the second floor, is the Ted Kramolc studio and Library. There is a wheelchair-accessible front door and pathway to the main floor.

Permanent Collection

Franklin Carmichael Art Centre houses a permanent collection of artwork and art books, started by Dr. Curtin. The collection consists of landscape and portrait paintings by Franklin Carmichael Art Group members including, Frederick Cecil Madill, Jillian Roos-Markowitz, Ted Kramolc, Ernest Alfred Dalton and Dr. Ann Curtin. Governance

Franklin Carmichael Art Group became a charitable organization in 1994. A working Board of Directors governs the Group. The organization conducts affairs per the By-Laws of Franklin Carmichael Art Group, Revised 2009.
