In this class, Catherine will propose themes, demonstrate techniques, and provide guidance on how to create a painting. Participants will be able to follow along and work at their own pace. At the end of each class, there will be a critique where participants will have the chance to help each other and discuss how to improve their work.

Two extension classes might be added at the end of the session if there are enough participants interested.

- Canvas (11”x14” recommended)
- Brushes
- Palette (StayWet palette recommended for Acrylic Paints)
- Acrylic/oil paints (Colours suggested: ultramarine blue, cerulean blue, permanent rose/cadmium red, alizarin crimson, yellow ochre, lemon/cadmium yellow, burnt umber and titanium white)
- For acrylics: thinning medium
- For oils: oil medium (e.g. linseed or walnut oil) and odourless mineral spirits for cleaning
- Pencil
- Paper towels
- Table cover (a large garbage bag works fine)
